Solutions To Outlook Express Errors

Thursday, September 29, 2011

Microsoft Outlook Express errors are common problems faced by users of Microsoft Outlook Express who use the application to meet their needs of sending and receiving e-mails. Indeed, with the increasing use of e-mail as a communication medium these days, solutions to Outlook Express errors have become increasingly important and sought after. To prevent confusion, the Microsoft Outlook Express application is different from the Microsoft Outlook e-mail client that is bundled with Microsoft Office. Rather, the former is bundled with Internet Explorer instead of the Microsoft Office suite. We list the following common problems faced by users of Microsoft Outlook Express and offer the relevant solutions.

1. Slow loading of Outlook Express

This problem arises when Microsoft Outlook Express is run concurrently with Microsoft Windows Messenger. The solution here is to go to the tools menu of Microsoft Outlook Express and under the options sub-menu, uncheck the option to automatically log on to Windows Messenger.

2. Inability to Receive E-mails

When you are unable to receive e-mails but able to send them, your domain might be possibly running out of space. This occurs when you have too many e-mails left inside your inbox or sent items folder of Microsoft Outlook Express. In such a situation, it would be a good idea for you to delete some e-mails from your inbox, sent items or any other folders that you might have. Alternatively, you can increase the disk space of your e-mail account for you to continue receiving e-mails again.

3. Outlook Express Error 0x800420CB

This is a common problem faced by most users of Microsoft Outlook Express. This error causes you to be unable to open your e-mail message. The most possible cause to this problem is in fact, corruption of your .dbx files. This type of file is used by the Microsoft Outlook Express application. The solution to this problem involves a few simple steps. Select tools from the main menu. Subsequently click on accounts and select the mail tab option. Click on duplicate mail account before selecting the remove option. Repeat these steps until all duplicate mails have been removed. In most cases, this step should solve the problem at hand. Otherwise, rename the Outbox.dbx file. This can be found easily by means of the windows search utility.

4. Unable to Delete E-mails

If you are unable to delete your old e-mail messages, your "deleted items folder" could possibly have been corrupted. This occurs when a copy of the deleted e-mail is sent to the "deleted e-mail folder" whenever an e-mail is deleted. Transfer all messages from this folder into another folder. Subsequently, close Microsoft Outlook Express and delete the "Deleted Items.dbx" file. You will need to tweak your windows setting to see hidden files in order to identify the location of your file.

The above mentioned methods are only some of the solutions to the many possible problems that might occur when using the Microsoft Outlook Express application. As in all troubleshooting of computer applications, identifying the problem is the key to finding the correct solution.

Advanced Outlook Repair - A Valuable Workplace Tool

Friday, September 16, 2011

Advanced Outlook Repair is a recovery tool designed to work with almost every version of the Microsoft Outlook program. Microsoft Outlook is a piece of "personal information management" software that comes bundled with the Microsoft Office suite and includes a popular e-mail program, calendar, task manager, and much more. Outlook is the application of choice for BlackBerry users for e-mail management also. As with any program, occasionally something may become corrupted or accidentally deleted and if this is important information, you could be looking at some serious problems in the workplace. This is where Advanced Outlook Repair comes in.

Imagine writing up a 10 page presentation for work. You send it through outlook, assume everyone has received it, and go ahead and delete your original and empty your "Sent" folder. You shouldn't do this but many people do all the time. Later that day, you get e-mails asking where that presentation is. Maybe you closed the program before the task was done or made some kind of error but hat presentation is history. Hours of work just went down the drain and you could be reprimanded or even fired for this simple mistake.

With Advanced Outlook Repair, you can easily recover that document and get it out before your deadline expires and your superiors get upset. In addition to recovering lost and deleted e-mails, Advanced Outlook Repair can also recover contacts, tasks, journals, attachments and any other items associated with or sent with Microsoft Outlook. One of the other great aspects of this program is the ability to recover embedded objects as well as text. You don't want to recover a document only to find out all the charts and graphs are missing because those are very time consuming to replace.

A very impressive feature of Advanced Outlook Repair is the ability to pull PST files from CD's, floppy disks, and other forms of media even if it somehow gets corrupted. Everyone has had this happen at one time or another and it can be extremely frustrating knowing you have the data you need but simply can't access it.

Advanced Outlook Repair is an invaluable tool for offices of any size. If you work in a corporation or from your own home, if you are a Microsoft Outlook user and your work depends on it heavily, it's better to be safe than sorry. The price of this product is a little over $200 but if you need to recover a business document that could potentially make you thousands of dollars, that's a very small price to pay. If every company used this Advanced Outlook Repair or provided it to its employees, data loss related to Outlook would be at an all time low.

How to Recover a Lost Password in Microsoft Outlook 2010

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

The article intends to help users recover their Outlook 2010 password that they may forgotten or have lost due to accident deletion or corrupt Outlook.pst password file. The methods explained in this article are reliable and simple enough to perform. However, it is to be noted that success or failure of any method entirely depends on how correctly you follow and implement the instructions.

Microsoft Outlook 2010 has many inbuilt features like data recovery through.pst files that store all the Outlook information including emails, drafts, deleted items, contacts, and calendar entries among others. There is an individual.pst file for each Outlook folder like inbox.pst, sent items.pst, drafts.pst, and outbox.pst among others. Below are the instructions that will educate you on password recovery.

Instructions:

You cannot recover your Outlook password when it is lost or forgotten. You will have to contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to get your Outlook password reset. Once you have your password reset, update your Outlook email account to gain access to your Outlook information.

You can gain access to your Outlook information from the Outlook.pst files. These files are used by Outlook to store all your Outlook data including emails, drafts, contacts, calendar entries etc. Locate the.pst file(s) by going into the Control Panel and double clicking on Mail (if you don't see Mail, then click on Switch to Classic View). Click on the Data Files button, click on the file path (it would read like Mailbox - John Smith.....), and then click on the Open Folder option. Locate the.pst file and double click to open it to retrieve your Outlook information. It is to be noted that the.pst file(s) will only help you gain access to your emails etc. but not the password.

If you have password protected your.pst file(s) and have forgotten their password, then use this little tweak to release their password. Click on the Start menu and go to Run. When the Run window opens, type 'pst19upg.exe -i filename.psx' (as it is and without quotes), and hit Enter on the keyboard. This will release the password of the protected.pst files and enable you to access your Outlook information.

If Outlook is not accepting your password and the password you are entering is correct, then try this tweak. Disable unnecessary add-ins by going into the Outlook, clicking on the File tab at the top, and selecting Options. Click on the Trust Center, select Add-ins, select COM Add-ins next to the Manage List, and then click on the Go button. When the COM Add-ins window opens, remove check marks from the boxes next to the add-ins you want to disable, and then click on OK. Close Trust Center window, close Outlook, and then reopen it.

Start Outlook in the Safe mode. Click on the Start menu, go to Run, type 'outlook.exe /safe' (without quotes and as is) in the open box, and hit Enter on the keyboard. This will start Outlook without any third party service and/or programs such as antivirus, firewalls, or add-ins etc. other than Microsoft's. If Outlook runs fine, then some third party program is causing the issue. You must contact your program vendor for the support.

You can also download and install a free or paid Outlook password recovery tool from trusted websites. Save the file and run it to recover your password. However, there is a drawback to this method. If you somehow downloaded a fake recovery tool from an illegal website, then you stand to the risk of losing your critical information.

Blue Screen of Death - An Enhanced Outlook

Tuesday, September 6, 2011

Users of windows system are sure to have experienced, at one point or another, the terrors of "The Fatal Exception", commonly called the "Blue Screen Of Death", or BSOD. Although the BSOD has largely been thrown onto the software slag heap, in Vista, crashes haven't been totally banished. When windows encounters a condition that compromises safe system operation (i.e. a "bug"), the system halts. This condition is called a 'bug check'. It is also commonly referred to as a system crash, a kernel error, a system fault, or a Stop error. When Windows encounters such a serious error that forces it to stop running, it displays a BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH or just 'lovingly' called BSOD!

In Vista (and Windows 7), unlike XP, where the system was essentially manual, the Windows Error Reporting has been improved & streamlined. and improved in Windows 7 & Vista. One had to follow-up to see if a solution had become available. This was a rather painful process! In Vista / 7, this entire reporting and follow-up process is automated.

These days a Vista / 7 user is more often likely to see a message as follows: "Microsoft Windows Operating System is not responding." And users are given two possibilities. They can either "Close the program" or "Wait for the program to respond." One waits in the hope that the issue will be resolved; or else then one just closes the program and gets prepared to lose information. Atleast, these messages look less daunting.

The BSODs on the other hand were/are quite traumatic and frustrating, to say the least!

The exact text of a Stop error varies, according to what caused the error. But the format is standardized and is made up of 3 parts:

PART 1.
Symbolic error name: This is the Stop Error message that is given to the OS and corresponds to the Stop Error number that appears.

PART 2.
Troubleshooting recommendations: This text applies to all Stop Errors of that particular type.

PART 3.
Error number and parameters: Its the bugcheck information. The text following the word STOP includes the error number, in hexadecimal notation, and up to four parameters that are typical of this error type.

Here are some computer tips to handle the BSOD.

First & Foremost, see if a System Restore or Last Known Good Configuration is able to resolve this issue. Else, then run your ant-virus and anti-spyware and your PC Junk/Registry Cleaner. After this, Run the Windows Check Disk Utility. Then try to identify if you've made any software or hardware change or modification.

In most cases, software is the victim and not the cause of BSOD's. So don't rule out hardware problems. It could be damaged hard disks, defective physical RAM, overheated CPU chips or anything else!
Check if you can see a driver name in the error details. If you can, then simply disabling, removing, or rolling back that driver to an earlier version can help solve that problem. Network interface cards, disk controllers and Video Adapters are the culprits, most often.

Check your memory. Use Vista's Memory Diagnostic Tool. Go to Control Panel and type "memory" in the Search box. Under Administrative Tools, click Diagnose Your Computer's Memory Problems. In the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool, shown here, select one of the options.

Check your system BIOS carefully Is an update available from the manufacturer of the system or motherboard? Check the BIOS documentation carefully; resetting all BIOS options to their defaults can sometimes resolve an issue caused by over tweaking.

Check if you are you low on system resources? Sometimes a critical shortage of Disk Space or RAM can cause BSOD's. Check if system file has been damaged? Work in Safe Mode, as only the core drivers and services are activated. If your system starts in Safe Mode but not normally, you very likely have a problem driver. Try running Device Manager in Safe Mode and uninstalling the most likely suspect. Or run System Restore in Safe Mode.

Utilities For Microsoft Outlook - Making Operations Smoother

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

People always try to get new and more advance products. They want to utilize their money in latest high quality products which can make them ahead from others. In this fast running life no one has enough time and they have lot of work to do in that same specified time. People have to attend their office, meetings, marriages and many more things, where every second is important. So to manage these kinds of situation, you always need a personal Management tool. Microsoft understood this situation and come up with a personal information manager named as Microsoft Outlook. Outlook is a part of Microsoft Office Suite.

Microsoft Outlook is mainly known as an e-mail application but it also has features which are very interesting and helpful in managing the time. Features like Calendar, Contact Manager, Journal, Notes, Task Manager, journal and Web browsing utility. It is used as stand-alone application but after adding to Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft Office Share-Point Server you can get enhanced features for multiple users in an organization. Microsoft Outlook uses the PST file format. It means that everything which you save in to the outlook is saved in to .pst files. E-mails, Attachments like audio/video/data files, calendar entries to remember all the important dates and anniversaries, personal notes, tasks for the day or in coming future, i.e. everything is saved in to the .pst files. If by any means these .pst files get corrupted, then you can lose all the data which are saved in to the .pst files.

2GB size limit is the biggest fault of outlook. Once the size of outlook PST file goes near about 2GB then the chances of corruption increase and once it crosses the 2GB size, it is automatically corrupted. One solution for this problem is that you Split the Large(less than 2GB PST) file in to small PST Files whose size is allocated according to your choice. As an example, split the 1.9GB (1945.6MB) file in to 3 files of 600 MB, 700MB and 645.6MB. This way you can manage things easily. But one thing comes in mind, how to split the files. Microsoft Outlook has not any PST file Split utility and you need to use any third party PST Splitting Software. The PST Splitting Software split PST files, so that they are easily manageable.

There is one more issue which is related to the security of the file. If any unauthorized user access your computer and read the outlook PST files which are confidential then it might results as a great loss. Microsoft outlook has one solution for it as form of password system. You can set the password on the PST files so that even if anyone access your system can not access the PST files. It is good but managing passwords for each PST file is tough and if you forget any one password then you can not access the password protected files again. One way to solve the problem is PST password Recovery which is another utility to recover the passwords of the password protected PST files. So you don't need to care about the passwords because the PST password recovery software is there for you.

Microsoft Outlook Calendar Problems

Thursday, August 25, 2011

Microsoft Outlook Calendar is used on desktop computers or handheld devices to enter, update and schedule appointments. Common Microsoft Outlook Calendar problems are duplicate appointments, missing entries and scheduling errors. They occur when different versions of Outlook are used on clients that share appointments. Incompatible syncing is another culprit, but modifying default settings solves these issues. Back up Calendar and contacts before troubleshooting to avoid lost information.

Duplicate Items

Running Outlook more than once while synchronizing and restoring Exchange folders will cause duplicate appointments to appear in the calendar. Open Task Manager by holding down the "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete" keys, and click on the "Processes" tab. Click on the "Name" column to sort the list alphabetically for easier viewing. Find and click the "Outlook.exe" file to highlight it and select "End Process." Repeat this step until only one "Outlook.exe" file is left to remove duplicate appointments.

Missing Appointments

This Microsoft Outlook Calendar problem occurs when appointments are deleted on handheld devices and later synced to Outlook. Calendar displays items for dates before and after the recent syncing, but nothing in between. The default setting for sync software removes old appointments on the handheld to save space. Items are not recoverable if they are deleted while syncing. Set the handheld to always keep appointments. Use AutoArchiving to free up needed space and remove appointments.

Resurfacing Reminders

The trouble with Outlook Calendar reminders is that users continue to receive reminders after they were previously dismissed. The reminder list is filled with old events, and the user has to repeatedly dismiss them. This annoying problem usually happens to Windows Mobile 6, Windows XP and Outlook 2003 users. Dismissed reminders will keep appearing if Exchange Server 2003 users have ActiveSync enabled, according to Microsoft Support. Syncing a handheld device to multiple computers also results in duplicate reminders and calendar entries.

Damaged Folders

Calendar reminders do not appear as scheduled when the reminders folder is corrupt or damaged. Verify that Outlook is running and that reminders are saved to the primary Calendar or Task folder in order to receive alerts. If these steps do not resume reminders, then the folder is possibly damaged. According to Microsoft Support, close Outlook and clean out the reminders folder. Click "Start," point to "Run" and Type "outlook /cealnreminders" into the field and click "OK."

How to Troubleshoot Microsoft Outlook

Monday, July 11, 2011

If you are having performance issues with your Microsoft Outlook email program, you might prefer to troubleshoot on your own before contacting Microsoft for help. Some common problems include MS Outlook's not responding or taking a long time to load. There are several reasons that your Outlook email program is not running the way it should.

Instructions

Update your version of MS Outlook. Check the Microsoft website for any updates to make sure you're using the latest version. Microsoft will typically release regular service pack updates for Outlook that can be installed for free.
Separate your archived email items into multiple folders. Placing a large number of files in one folder can degrade Outlook's performance.

Remove any unnecessary add-ins that you have installed on your Outlook program. Find the add-ins under the "Trust Center" in the "Tools" menu. Browse the populated list and remove any add-in applications that you don't use.

Disable your antivirus software while using MS Outlook; some antivirus programs interfere with its operations.

Review any error messages that appear onscreen during the startup of Outlook. If you receive an error message, Outlook has not been able to shut down a file correctly and will need to reconcile the issue at startup. Click on the gear icon to check the status of the issue.

How to Troubleshoot Outllib dll File Corruption in Microsoft Outlook

Friday, July 1, 2011

Microsoft Outlook is made up of a number of application files that include library and DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files. On such file is Outllib.dll. It is a significant component of Microsoft Outlook and is managed by the Windows Registry. When this file goes missing or gets damaged, Outlook may not start and you can not access data from your PST file. This behavior cause critical data loss situations and you need PST Recovery to sort out the problem.

When this file gets damaged or does now function properly, you might come across the below error message:
"OUTLOOK caused an invalid page fault in module OUTLLIB.DLL at "
When you see the application log of Microsoft Outlook, you might find the following entries in it:
"Faulting application outlook.exe, version 11.0.6353.0, stamp 408f2937,
faulting module outllib.dll, version 11.0.6359.0, stamp 40c8adfd,
debug? 0, fault address 0x00074db7."

After this error message, Microsoft Outlook does not open and you can not access data from it. This behavior may lead to PST file corruption and eventually cause data loss. At this point, you need to find out the cause of this issue and carry out Outlook PST Recovery by sorting it out.

Root of the issue

As stated in above error message and the Event Log, this problem occurs due to corruption to either Outllib.dll or Outlook.exe file. Corruption might occur because of virus infection, application malfunction, improper system shut down and other such reasons.

Solution

There is a number of techniques or methods that you could use as troubleshooting methods to fix this issue. These procedures are as discussed below:
  1. If your MS Outlook application is installed in IMO (Internet Mail Only) mode, then Outlook would not function properly until you have complete and proper installation of Microsoft Outlook Express. Thus, you need to ensure that your MS Outlook Express is working appropriately.
  2. Incompatible or Invalid extension information could also cause such situations. Thus, you should try replacing the Extend.dat file. If you manage to start Outlook properly, uncheck the suspected add-ins.
  3. Try restarting Microsoft Outlook in Safe Mode.
  4. Create new Outlook profile and PST file. If you are using Outlook in IMO mode, then you will have to created IMO profile.
  5. Reinstall Microsoft Outlook or complete MS Office Suite. Here you should remove application and rename Outllib.dll file and reinstall MS Outlook.
After you carry out above solutions, you would find out that the related error messages has stopped occurring, but at the same time you may also discover that the PST file has got damaged and it become completely unusable. The issue may occur during re installation of MS Outlook or the damaged file affect Outlook library files.
Corruption to the PST file needs Recover PST to be handled. This is best possible using third party applications, known as PST RecoverySoftware. The applications use advanced and powerful scanning mechanisms to carry out thorough scan of the damaged PST file and retrieve all of the damaged or inaccessible data from it.

PST Recovery Tool is capable of recovering all of the PST file objects including emails, notes, tasks, contacts, calendar entries, attachments and so forth. The software are completely safe and easy to use.

How to Troubleshoot Email Problems in Outlook with Transaction Logging

Monday, June 27, 2011

Usually, sending and receiving mail works smoothly in Outlook. But as soon as you have become a bit too accustomed to this error-free email existence, a puzzling and ill-explained error pops up.
If the unexplained error does not go away, only a log can help. Outlook can create a detailed list of what it is doing, sending and receiving as it tries to exchange mail. Using this log, you can either pinpoint the problem yourself or at least show it to your ISP's mail support person, for example.
Outlook can log all communication with Exchange, POP, SMTP and IMAP servers as well as Hotmail communication.

Troubleshoot Email Problems in Outlook with Transaction Logging

To log email traffic for troubleshooting in Outlook:
  • Select Tools | Options... from the menu in Outlook.
  • Go to the Other tab.
  • Click Advanced Options.
  • Make sure Enable logging (troubleshooting) (or Enable mail logging (troubleshooting) in Outlook 2003) is enabled.
  • Click OK.
  • Click OK again.
  • Exit and restart Outlook.
Now it's time to
  • attempt the failed email action — sending the message or retrieving new mail, for example — again
to reproduce the error. After you have generated the error, make sure you
  • uncheck Enable logging (troubleshooting) (or Enable mail logging (troubleshooting)) again
via the steps outlined above before you restart Outlook once more.

Find the Log File

While turning transaction logging on or off is easy in Outlook, finding the log files can be a bit more involved:
  • Select Run... from the Start menu.
  • Type "%temp%" (without the quotation marks).
  • Click OK.

5 Microsoft Outlook Troubleshooting Tips

Thursday, June 23, 2011

Occasionally Microsoft Outlook will freeze or run into an error message, so use these 5 Microsoft Outlook troubleshooting tips to help resolve the issue. Nothing is worse than sitting down to respond to your emails and having Microsoft Outlook freeze up, or shut down due to an error message. These Microsoft outlook troubleshoot tips should help determine the cause of your issue.

1 - Does your system meet the minimum requirements to run Microsoft Outlook? In order to run Microsoft Outlook your system must have 256 megabytes of memory or more, as well as 1.5 gigabytes of hard drive space free. If your computer does not meet these requirements, you can upgrade your computer system.

2 - Make sure your system has the latest updates. Microsoft offers system updates regularly to keep your software up to date and free of errors. Checking Microsoft's website for the latest outlook upgrades will help you to make sure your system is up to date.

3 - Saving too many items to one folder can be the cause of issues with Microsoft Outlook.  To avoid error messages, save your emails to multiple folders and use the sort by date option. Try this troubleshooting tips to see if your issue is resolved.

4 - Anti virus software can cause performance issues with it's integrated software for Outlook. By disabling the Outlook integration within your anti virus software, you should resolve any error messages caused by the software.

5 - If you have several add-ons for Microsoft Outlook, that could be the cause of error messages. In order to find out if the add-on is causing your system an issue, try this troubleshooting tip. Run Microsoft Outlook in safe mode by pressing and holding CTRL when you start Outlook. This can help you determine if an add-on is the cause of your error. If no errors are present when running in safe mode then one of your add-ons is the cause of your error message. Disable your add-ons one by one to determine which add-on is the culprit.

Resolving the Microsoft Outlook Express Not Responding Error Message

Sunday, June 12, 2011

Microsoft Outlook Express is a popular email client that is widely used by companies over the world. It is different from a web mail that you can access online; it is an email client that is installed in your computer. You can check your mailbox through an email client without opening an internet browser just by launching the program, of course as long as you have an internet connection. One of the most common error in Microsoft Outlook Express is the not responding error message. There are many reasons why a user experiences a not responding error while using Outlook Express. I have here some tips that you can do to fix a not responding error in Outlook Express.

The most common reason for experience a non-responsive email client is due to internet connection or account settings improperly configured. Check whether the Outlook Express can connect to the internet; send a test mail to yourself, if you still receive an error message then check your account settings if they are properly configured.

Always update your Windows operating system. Always turn on the automatic updater of Windows and it will update your system every time you boot your computer. The latest update will always fix security holes and errors that were present in your Outlook Express version.

Updating the anti-virus should always be in your maintenance list, because having an out-dated anti-virus is like not having it at all. This will always be able to help resolve a non-responsive email client because a sudden error in an email client is sometimes caused by a virus infected email that is in your inbox. To remove such emails performing a full system scan is recommended.

Corrupt storage folders can also cause an Outlook Express crash. The storage folder may contain a virus infected email that messes up with the program. Deleting the folder files immediately will also delete all your storage emails, so try to backup the email client. There are two ways to backup your Outlook Express. First you can backup the Outlook Express emails as a whole or you can simply select the messages you want and drag it into a separate folder, after backing up the emails delete and Inbox.dbx and restart the program.

These methods will fix your Outlook Express but if not the best thing you can do is to contact the Microsoft customer support through their website. Don't forget to tell them the things that you have tried so far so they would know what methods you have tried. This will save you a lot of time because you won't have to go through all the methods mentioned above.

Manage Your Life With Microsoft Outlook, Google and a Smart Phone

Friday, June 3, 2011

These three tools can help manage your busy life and work in a big way. Microsoft outlook has features like Calendar, along with your usual Email and Contact list. Google has Gmail along with Google Calendar and a tracking application called Latitude. Lastly, your smart phone has a calendar, GPS and can install applications. It also has internet access at all times of the day. With these three things you can manage your life more simply.

For starters Outlook is a great mail application. It has features for receiving and composing email and, among other things, has a built in calendar. The calendar is a simple click and type interface with scheduling for days, weeks, months, and years. Outlook is basically the one stop shop for emailing and scheduling.

Google has many neat programs under its belt, but the ones we are going to be using are Gmail, Google Calendar, Outlook Sync and Google Latitude. Gmail is an online email service with approximately 7 Gigabytes of storage space. Google Calendar is an appointment book that has a lot of the same features you will see in Microsoft Outlook. Outlook Sync is a program that will update your Google Calendar with Outlook Calendar and the other way around, Outlook Calendar with Google Calendar. Lastly Latitude is an application you can install on your smart phone that will use your GPS to track your phone, thus your location, and will send it to Google.

Smart phones have the capability of having internet all day, which makes them handy with receiving and sending real time information. Smart phones also support many 3rd party applications like the ones we will use. Lastly, they come equipped with a calendar that should be similar in functionality to Outlook calendar.

So how do we put all these resources together to manage your life?

1. Create a Gmail account. Don't worry if you do not want to use Gmail as your main mailing application. For example if you have a business email address that you have been using for years, you will still be able to keep this address. If this is the case, you must take an extra step. Open your original mail client online and forward mail to your new Gmail account. The option for this should be in the control panel. This will copy and forward messages you receive in that mailbox to Gmail's inbox.

2. Sign into Google Calendar, which has become available from signing up for Gmail. This will activate it.

3. Install Outlook Sync Manager to your computer. After you install Sync Manager go ahead and type your email credentials to complete the install.

4. Install Gmail smart phone app. It will give your smart phone the Gmail icon to check your emails and notify you of new messages. You will probably want to place this icon on the homepage of your phone for easy access. After the install type your credentials to begin receiving emails.

5. Install Google Maps on your smart phone. This program comes with Google Maps and Latitude. After the install is complete open the app. and choose to join latitude from the menu.

After these steps, you should be on your way to an easier method of emailing, scheduling, and letting your loved ones and friends know where you are. Using your phone, you now have the capability of sending and receiving email at any time of the day. You can also schedule appointments in your phone and they will be sent to Google calendar for others in your family to read. All the while, your location is being uploaded to Google so anyone you have added to your Latitude friends list can now see your location.

Using your PC, you can add the Google Latitude app to your iGoogle.com homepage. This way you know where your friends and family are located at a glance. You can also use your Microsoft Outlook to send and receive email and add new scheduled appointments. Any Appointments made in Outlook with be automatically updated in your phone. Just like any appointments you make in your phone will be automatically update in Microsoft Outlook. With Google's ability to combine calendars from separate Gmail account into one, you can see who is doing what, and when.

Top Tips to Speed Up Out

Thursday, May 26, 2011

While Outlook 2007 offers many new features that do indeed offer real benefits it can come at a price - performance. On my Core 2 Duo with 2GB of RAM Outlook 2007 originally took a good 20 seconds to fire up from a fully booted PC and appeared to be constantly sluggish. So what can be done about it?

Tip 1: Delete attachments

A little-known feature in Outlook is the ability to keep an email but delete one or several attachment. Firstly, sort your inbox by file size (descending) and open a message (by double clicking so it opens in a new window) where you no longer wish to keep the attachment. Right click over the attachment and select Remove. Now save the email, repeat with all relevant emails in this mailbox and then repeat in any other mailboxes (including your sent items).

Tip 2: Split emails into Archives

Maybe you disabled the autoarchive facility when you first saw it because you didn't understand it? Archiving old emails into a separate file still allows you to access less frequently used material when required but keeps your system running faster as it does not have to trawl through all of this rendundant content regularly. Click File | New | Outlook Data File. Enter a name for the file - a new folder will now appear in the folder list on the left. You can add sub-folders to this by right clicking, which is useful if you want to create a similar hierarchy to your current inbox. Once done simply select multiple files in your main inbox and drag/drop them to the same inbox in your new archive folder. Repeat for all other folders (e.g. Sent Items and any others that you may have created). Close the new data file by right clicking over the title and selecting Close [Folder Name]. Now when Outlook loads it only loads you nice lightweight folder! Outlook 2007 is known to be far less tolerant of large PST data files than Outlook 2003. Aim to keep your main PST file under 500MB - the smaller the better.

Tip 3: Disable unessential Add-ins in Outlook 2007

Click on Tools, Trust Center and Add-Ins. Now select one of the various options from the dropdown menu at the bottom and uncheck any add-ins that you don't use (which for me was an Adobe Acrobat one and Gotomeeting.com). Restart Outlook and see if this makes a difference.

Tip 4: No need for fax? Ditch it!

If you do not send or receive faxes on your PC then uninstall the facility as this has been known to cause issues with Outlook 2007.From Control Panel select Add/Remove Programs, select Add/remove windows components and uncheck Fax Service.

Tip 5: Enable Outlook 2007 logging to see if anything is going wrong

Outlook has an error logging capability, which could be useful if something is going wrong. Click Tools, Options, Other, Advanced Options and then tick Enable Logging. Logs will be stored in C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\Local Settings\Temp\Outlook Logging\. Look for any errors, especially in OPMLog.log - perhaps relating to the checking of email on one or more of your POP3 accounts.

Tip 6: Compact your PST data files often

Use Outlook's compact facility to compress your folders, especially your main PST file. Click on top folder name (e.g. Personal Folders), right-click and select Properties. Now select Advanced and then click on Compact Now.

Tip 7: Optimise your Exchange settings

If you are connecting to an Exchange server then the synchronisation (cacheing) process will add a further overhead to your system. You can switch off cacheing so that your PC always looks to the server for its mail, however be warned - this can cause a number of issues, such as massively increased network traffic, problems with junk mail filtering and the inability to read mail when you are not connected to the server. Check the Microsoft knowledge base for Exchange optimisation techniques here, as this is a constantly evolving issue and there may be more solutions by the time you read this.

Tip 8: Stop Outlook 2007 storing RSS information from IE7

If you are using IE7 and RSS feeds Outlook will also store all feed threads by default. Click Tools, Options, other, Advanced Options and then uncheck Sync RSS feeds to common feed list, followed by Any RSS feed that is updated appears as a new item. Close these screens and then click Tools, Accounts, RSS Feeds and delete the feeds. Now you have to delete the RSS threads from the RSS threads folder in your mail folders.

Tip 9: Run the Outlook 2007 Diagnostics check

Outlook has its own self-repair mechanism. Click on Help and Office Diagnostics, and then let Outlook run its diagnostic tests, which can take 15 minutes or so.

Tip 10: Update your Rules and Alerts

Under Tools, Rules & Alerts, Options select Upgrade Rules (only if you don't use these PST files with an older version of Outlook). This updates the rules to Outlook 2007.

Tip 11: Scan and repair your PST file

Outlook ships with a scanning utility called SCANPST.EXE, located in drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12. Run this, locate your PST file and let it scan and repair any errors for you. Full details can be found here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA100758311033.aspx?pid=CH100788841033

Tip 12: Run Outlook 2007 in safe mode

You can start Outlook in safe mode, which stops Add-ins and certain other files from loading. This often loads Outlook with a startling speed boost! If you experience a big difference then try the following:

How to Make Brochures on Microsoft Word

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Way One

So, an easy way to effortless brochure printing is to go to the official site of Microsoft Office on the web, and download a brochure template. There would be text written on the template, and so, you just need to replace it with your own text and images. Simple as that. However, if you subscribe for zero plagiarism, create your own template on Microsoft Word and get started. Here's how:

    * If you see brochures, you'll notice that most brochures are either bi-fold or tri-fold. Let's consider a bi-fold brochure, as it's comparatively simpler.
    * Go to File, and click on Page Setup. The reason for this is that you need to set adequate margin space in order to create a clean look of your brochure.
    * When you've set margin for the page, add columns to the page as required. For that, click on Table, and select Columns. As per the required number of columns, create brochure panels.
    * When you've created columns, click on the first column, and go to Insert. Select Break, and click on Column Break. This will allow you to add paragraphs for information purposes. It's upon you how many breaks you want to put.
    * Type relevant information, add images that you can download from the Internet, and when all's done, go to Insert, click on Break, and this time, select Page Break. This will take you to the next page of the brochure.
    * Repeat the steps mentioned above, in accordance with what kind of data you want to put, and what images are necessary for your brochure.
    * Lastly, when you think you've done a great job, save the copy, and get a print out of it. That's how you make brochures on Microsoft Word.

How to Make Brochures on Microsoft Word: Way Two

Those marveling over how to make brochures on Microsoft Word 2007 version, have all the reasons to smile. You see, there's yet another way of creating brochures, if you aren't in a mood to slog much. Follow the steps given below:

    * Go to File, and click on New. A list of templates will open up, wherein, you have to click on Brochures.
    * This will direct you to the online page of Microsoft Office Brochure templates. Select the one you prefer, and download it.
    * Save the template, and start working on it. Remember, the template already has text and images scribbled over it, and so, you just have to select it and delete it, and replace it with your own information.
    * Insert pictures by clicking on Insert, and browsing through your computer, add the image you want on the brochure.
    * When all is done, take a print-out of your brochure, and get started with marketing.
